sandcastles.
10 billeder fra Ringkøbing

The sandcastles. project explores how we treat history and memories. Pictures show WWII German bunkers on the West Coast of Denmark disappearing into the sands of time. These concrete remnants, built for wartime defense, now peacefully coexist with the lively scenes at Søndervig beach.

The ’sandcastles. 10 Pictures from Ringkøbing’ book takes inspiration from old-fashioned souvenir books and expands on this exploration, portraying the challenge of capturing fleeting moments. The original ’10 billeder fra Ringkjøbing og Vesterhavet’ souvenir book, found in a thrift shop, was created by Bogladerne in Ringkjøbing and contains 10 individual photos showcasing the town’s streets, everyday life, and typical summer scenes by the North Sea. While the ’sandcastles. 10 billeder fra Ringkøbing’ directly references the original book in many ways, the images it presents are less tied to a specific location and instead focus more on the nature of memories.
